On 22 October 2024, the first hearing will take place at the District Court of Amsterdam. The hearing and subsequent court opinion will determine whether the Foundation meets all formal requirements to proceed in this collective action against Google.

Statement of Defense Google

Google Taken to Court
Press release – Stichting Bescherming Privacybelangen and the Consumentenbond take a new step in their fight against Google: today, the tech company is challenged in court for large-scale privacy violations. In the legal proceedings the Foundation demands, amongst other things, that Google stops its constant surveillance and sharing of personal data through online ad auctions and pays damages to consumers. Since the announcement of this action on May 23, over 82,000 people in the Netherlands have already joined the collective action.

Stichting Bescherming Privacybelangen and the Consumentenbond stand up against Google for massive privacy violations
Press release – Tech giant Google must stop illegally collecting and processing data from Dutch consumers for its own commercial gain. Google must also pay users compensation for its longstanding and unprecedented privacy violations. That is what Stichting Bescherming Privacybelangenthe Foundation and the Consumentenbond demand. The Foundation and the Consumentenbond are calling on consumers to join the legal action against Google and to enforce their rights.
